This usually happens within 30 to 90 minutes after the surgery and feels like there is something in your eye, like for example, an eyelash. You might also experience some inconsistency in vision during your recovery time. This will go away around the second week, after the LASIK surgery.

You will experience a lot of dry eye after the procedure. You will be prescribed some drops that you need to apply to your eyes. This will continue for 2 to 6 months.

Night glares are really common for patients who have undergone LASIK eye surgery. This subsides within one to 6 months.

What are the restrictions to follow post-surgery?

Rest your eyes and keep them closed, as long as possible and engage in activities like TV, watching movies on TV or computer only moderately. Abide by your surgeon’s instructions.

Do not let water or soap get into your eyes within 5 days after the LASIK surgery. If you have any discomfort after the surgery, then clean it with a tissue prescribed by the doctors or a sterilised piece of cotton.

Reduce the risk of infection by staying away from pools, tubs or any such places, 10 days after the LASIK surgery.

Stay away from makeup, aftershaves and colognes five days after the surgery. Keep away from it till your doctor allows you to use it.
While you can return to work immediately, however, drive only if you are confident and after it has been advised by your doctor.

Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes if you are doing anything dangerous which might create a splash or might poke you. Wear sunglasses as long as you need.

Restrain from rubbing your eyes post-surgery for one to 2 months.
